| According to Robert Kiyosaki, the author of "Rich Dad Poor Dad" and "Cash Flow Quadrant" (among many other great books), if you want to create wealth and stop trading time for money as an employee (E) or specialist/self-employed professional (S) then you need to get on the right side of the cash flow quadrant and become a business owner (B) or an investor (I).  The key to financial freedom is generating enough passive income to pay for everything you want and need. Passive income is very different than earned income. With earned income, you work for your money. When you stop working your income stops coming in. So what are you going to do if you get hurt or injured and cannot work? Do you have a backup plan? And do you want to work 40, 50, 60 (or more) hours a week for the rest of your life? Wouldn't you like to be able to take time off whenever you want without having to worry about it affecting your income or your business? With passive income, your money works for you. Finding sources of passive and/or residual income is the way to provide yourself with security and freedom. Passive and residual income keep paying you long after the work is done. Start by educating yourself with some of Robert Kiyosaki's books like "Rich Dad Poor Dad" and then "Cashflow Quadrant". After reading these two books you will learn some wealth principals and have a better understanding of the mindset of the rich. Until you have this mindset, you may struggle with overcoming what many of us have been taught -- go to school, get good grades, get a good job, work for about 45 years (for example, from age 20 to 65) and you'll be able to retire. How much will you have to retire on? Will it be enough? And who wants to work for 45 years building someone else's business and creating someone else's wealth? Statistics from the Social Security Administration show that 95% of the people in retirement have to lower their standard of living or continue working to make ends meet.
When you open up your mind to not-so-traditional ideas, you expose yourself to opportunities that others quickly pass over because they don't understand the power of creating passive or residual income.
